Delta is the name we give to the top three year groups at The River School -Years 9, 10 and 11. It is the final 3 years here at The River School and the students at this level set the tone in many ways for the rest of the school.

Our vision for these teenage years is distinctive. While society describes teenagers as ‘children’ until they are 18, our view is that this is incorrect and unhelpful. In a Jewish society the ‘barmitzvah’ at the start of the teenage years represent significantly, and appropriately, the beginning of young adulthood. At this age we believe teenagers need to be recognised as being more responsible. The teenage years can be extremely rewarding and exciting and we aim to help our students make the most of them.

This view means that we have some distinct values we try to inculcate in our senior students:

  • Responsibility
  • Leadership
  • Teamwork skills
  • Servant-heartedness
  • Initiative
  • Moral underpinning of decision-taking
  • Discernment
This is also the time when students look at careers, enterprise and business activities. We link up with the Worcester Warriors education department, among others.
