Food Technology

Food Technology is taught throughout the school from year 5 onwards.

All pupils receive two hours of cookery lessons per week for a whole term as part of a rotation with IT and Art up to and including year 9.

In year 9 pupils are given the option to choose a BTEC Level 2 qualification in Home Cooking skills which is a very practical course developed by Jamie Oliver where pupils are taught to cook nutritious, delicious meals for others and share the recipes with friends and family.

Pupils learn all the theory of nutrition and the benefits of healthy eating whilst learning to plan and cook meals, a life skill that is slowly disappearing.
